USII Students,
With your partner, visit the link below to the National Holocaust Museum, and look through the list of topics. Choose the topic that interests you both the most. Together, answer these questions in a comment to this post:
- In your own words, tell me what information you learned from your topic link that surprised you? Why did it surprise you?
- How would you have responded to the Holocaust if you had been alive in the 1940s? Why? Why do you think it was possible for one country to commit such horrible crimes?
1)I learned that the Holocaust ended when the war ended.I was surprised because I thought the Holocaust ended when Hitler died.
2)I would have been scared for my life because Hitler killed all those people.Hitler was a mean guys,so he took it out on the whole country, which wasn’t right.
I really don’t get how Hilter’s mind was thinking. If we stopped segregation for Blacks’ then what made him think it was okay to do that to Jews.
I learned that the holocaust did not end until the war ended. Because it lasted a long time. I wound tell everyone to stop Hitler.
Ok, you need more information to back up your topic
Anti-Semitism means against Jewish people
1. I learned lots of various information like I never knew the ending of the holocaust then I figured out the ending. The ending was that the jews emigrated to different countries with help from the allies. That was shocking because I couldn’t figure it out.
The topic I picked was the liberation of Holocaust because it seemed like the lightening part of the Holocaust. The thing that surprised me was that the US helped to liberate people from Germany even though we had a war with them.
I still don’t understand the way Hilter was thinking. If we scratched out discrimination against Blacks’, so what made him think it was okay to do it to Jews. I really just thought that whites didn’t like colored people. And i don’t get how he didn’t like disabled people. What if one of his family members was disabled.
I would be just like the man in the video. Why would people want to kill us just because of our heritage. We are who we are. It’s not right to kill someone just to get them off the earth. It was possible for them to do that because they just wanted to wipe out the whole jewish nation. I couldn’t live knowing that i was doing something like that.
We went on the Holocaust Topics 2 site and looked at the life in the ghetto link. We were amazed of the creativity the small children had. Although death was all around them, they still played with toys and dolls. At the Lodz Ghetto, they used the tops of cigarette boxes as playing cards. It’s incredible how they used creativity to fulfill their needs.
This is what i learned.A ghetto originated from the name of the Jewish quarter in Venice, established in 1516. The ghettos were terrible places to live in my opion that is.
that hitler killed jews, people with handedcap or like injured people and people he didnt like.
2.I don’t see why hitler could kill so many jews based on their religion and features. If I were alive during that time I’d be scared to not see my family and I would have to work and fight every day too survive and I honestly don’t know I could deal with it.
I think maybe Hitler did this whole mess because he felt left out his entire life, and if there was someone was different than him, he wouldn’t understand how they could fit in with the crowd instead of him. So he probably felt that if he wasn’t happy than no one else could be, and that’s just completely selfish of him.
i went on the Internet yesterday and found out that Hitler’s father’s name was Alois Hitler. Hitler’s parents had five children, but only Hitler and his sister,Paula survived to become adults. Even though, Hitler’s father had another son by a different woman, his father never approved of him. Hitler’s dad was very strict and would beat his son if he didn’t do what he said.
Yesterday, i found out that Hitler wanted to become an arist when he was younger, but there rejected him. So then he tried for architect, but was denied that offer. Hitler’s mother died of cancer, and he truly loved her. That he always kept her picture with him, even when they found him dead.
On the Holocaust 2 link I learned that Hitler turned Germany into a one party dictatorship and to organize the police power necessary to enforce Nazi policies fast

Ithought it was horrible how they took the jewish people and made them take toxic showers.
2.I couldn’t go through it because of all the deaths and lifes it ruined for jews.
